Sambalpur: Truck Rams into Bus at Luhapank Junction; 20 Passengers Injured, 6 Critical Referred to Burla Hospital

Accident on NH-55 Near Luhapanka Chhak
Sambalpur: On Friday morning around 8 AM, a coal-loaded truck hit a passenger bus from behind near Luhapanka Chowk on National Highway 55, under Rairakhol police limits. As a result, more than 20 passengers were injured in the accident.
Six Seriously Injured, Shifted to Burla Hospital
Among the injured, six people were seriously hurt. They included Premashila Mahapatra (55) from Kutasingha village; Ambika Munda (20) and Mamanee Munda (23) from Kharshali village; Draupadi Behera (42) from Kusumkhol village; Sukanti Midhha (70) from Dahimal village; and Pradeep Majhi (36) from Chashabhardi village under Kisinda Police Station. After the accident, police rushed to the scene and took all the injured passengers to Rairakhol hospital. However, since the condition of these six individuals was critical, doctors referred them to Burla Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.

How the Accident Happened
The bus was traveling from Patrapada village in Angul district toward Sambalpur. As it was crossing a speed breaker near Luhapanka Chhak, a speeding truck carrying coal came from behind and crashed into the bus.
Due to the sudden impact, 20 passengers inside the bus sustained injuries.
Police Action and Investigation
Police quickly reached the scene, seized the truck, and detained the driver. They have registered a case of accidental negligence and are currently investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, passengers with minor injuries received first aid and were discharged after treatment.
