Sambalpur: Union Minister Savitri Thakur Visits Sambalpur; Motivates Utkal Balashram Children, Receives Anganwadi Workers’ Memorandum

Minister Meets Children at Balashram

Sambalpur: Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development, Savitri Thakur, visited Sambalpur district. She attended various programs, visited Anganwadi centers, and primary institutions, and met multiple women’s self-help groups.

During her visit to the Utkal Balashram in Dhankauda, she met children and motivated them to work hard for success. She emphasized that preserving culture and values helps individuals shine, even in a crowd. She advised the children to make their society, country, and homeland proud through good deeds. She also distributed clothes and chocolates to 70 children at the ashram.

Review of Welfare Schemes

Later, the minister visited the Women and Child Center, where she interacted with pregnant women and reviewed the Mamata Scheme. She also met the beneficiaries of the scheme at the Ramdega Anganwadi Center in Tabala Panchayat.

At Ramdega Primary School, she reviewed the National Child Health Program. Afterward, she held a meeting with district administrative officers at the District Collector’s office. She evaluated various schemes focused on women’s and children’s development in Sambalpur district.

She also encouraged women to use the C-Box Portal to report safety concerns. Additionally, she suggested setting up working women’s hostels in suburban areas. During the event, a five-month-old baby and a 12-year-old child were handed over to their foster parents.

The event was attended by Revenue Commissioner Ramchandra Yadav, North Odisha Police Range IG Himanshu Lal, MP representative Nauri Nayak, and MLA representative Sameer Ranjan Babu.

Child Welfare Committee Meets Union Minister

Members of the Sambalpur District Child Welfare Committee met Minister Savitri Thakur to discuss child welfare issues. The delegation, led by Committee President Prashant Padhi, included Bargarh District President Dinesh Agrawal and Jharsuguda District President Ashish Panda.

Anganwadi Workers Submit Demand Letter

During the minister’s visit, the Western Odisha Anganwadi Workers’ and Assistants’ Association, led by General Secretary Prabhasini Padhi, submitted a demand letter highlighting key concerns. They requested government recognition for Anganwadi workers, official worker status, salary hikes, increased funds for the Supplementary Nutrition Program (SNP), distribution of more powerful mobile phones, and adjustment of egg prices based on market rates. In response, the minister assured them that she would review their concerns and take necessary action.
