Sambalpur: An elderly woman recently distributed sweets at the Sadar police station to celebrate the successful recovery of her stolen money. On October 8, the Sadar Police arrested the accused in a robbery where they stole ₹50,000, a bank passbook, an Aadhaar card, and other documents from an elderly woman, Subalaya Barik near Chaurpur Bridge.
The Incident and Investigation
The accused had offered her a ride and then robbed her of money and important documents. When she filed a complaint at the Sadar police station, the police immediately investigated. Shiv Bag of Sehnapali and Jyotindra Ranabida of Gaudapali were arrested.

Recovery of Stolen Goods
Police seized ₹42,580 and other stolen items from the robbers. Both were arrested and eventually taken to court. The police returned the recovered money and documents to the elderly woman, which brought her great relief.

Today, the woman went to the police station and, overcome with joy, shared jalebi sweets with the officers as a token of her appreciation for their prompt action. Her heartfelt gesture has sparked debate throughout the district.
