Western Odisha Development Council Chairman’s visit to Sambalpur
Visit to fish, mushroom and poultry farming projects promoted other forms of economic agriculture
Sambalpur: Chief Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman West Odisha Development Council Asit Tripathi visited Sambalpur on Thursday and reviewed various development works and visited some ambitious projects. On his way from Subarnapur, he first went to Huma Bakr temple and had darshan of Bimaleshwar Baba. Huma visited the Mahanadi (Machindra) ghat of the temple and held an informal discussion with the members of the trust regarding the development there. In the afternoon, he first went to Naxapali village in Sambalpur metropolis and visited the crop farming project done by young agricultural entrepreneur Abhiraj Saraf at a cost of Rs 1.6 crore. Abhiraj has been given support and concessions for this project by the district agriculture department under the Chief Minister’s Agriculture Enterprise Scheme.
Later, Mr. Tripathi went to Maneshwar Block Jaighant and visited Deepak Mishra’s 50,000 capacity poultry farm. An initial investment of Rs 4 crore has been made in this project. Mr. Mishra is being given necessary support from the District Animal Husbandry Department. Later, Mr. Tripathi went to Balbaspur, a suburb of the city, and expressed his happiness to see the panjuri fish farming project run by self-help groups in Hirakud Reservoir. He praised the women’s group for such efforts. The Chairman of West Odisha Development Council called for efforts to be made in the direction of how the farmers can be more financially prosperous with other sources of income other than rice.
Finally, Mr. Tripathi Burla reached the Surendra Sai University of Science and inaugurated the Chancellor’s office. On this occasion, 18 old students of the institute who passed the Odisha Administrative Service Examination were promoted. However, the review program of the under-construction theater in Gangadha’s Meher University campus was cancelled. During Mr. Tripathi’s visit, Dr. Suresh Chandra Dadai, District Council President Kumudini Naik, District Collector Ananya Das, SP B. Gangadhar, District Council Chief Development Officer and Executive Officer Phillip Kumar Bala, West Odisha Development Council Chief Executive Officer Dr. Ajit Mishra and other officials were present.
