Sambalpur: A shocking incident occurred in Sahu Colony under Town Police Station limits, where a woman was brutally murdered, allegedly linked to the Corex syndicate. The murder is believed to have been caused by a dispute between two groups. However, the police seem to be trying to portray the incident as stemming from an old enmity. They are downplaying it by merely labeling it as a simple murder. According to SDPO, the reason for the murder was related to financial transactions, but the police have remained silent about why the money was exchanged. Moreover, the accused has not revealed why he paid the money. Today, the accused, Pan Haripal, was arrested and sent to court. He hails from the Bareipali Thanapada area.

Victim’s Background and Corex Mafia Involvement
Lalita Devi (36), the victim, was charged with seven to eight counts of illegal liquor trade, including both local and foreign alcohol. However, she did not face any cases involving the Corex trade. It is said that she worked for the powerful Corex mafia, which is why no Corex-related cases were filed against her. As a result, she frequently obtained bail easily.
