Sambalpur: Young Man Robbed Near Chaurpur Bridge; Rs 1.2 Lakh Stolen from Bike Dicky
Sambalpur: A robbery was reported near the Mahanadi Bridge on Chaurpur Road, under the jurisdiction of Burla police station. Miscreants broke into the bike dicky of a young man named Soumyajit Majhi from Chaupur village and stole Rs 1.2 lakh.
Details of the Robbery
Soumyajit withdrew Rs 1.2 lakh from Sambalpur State Bank at 4 p.m. today and was riding his bike home. He had placed the money in his bike’s dicky and stopped to buy gupchup after leaving the bank. He stopped by the roadside to relieve himself after crossing the Mahanadi Bridge near Chaupur Chhak, only 20 meters from the police beat house.

The Robbery
At this point, some miscreants arrived on another bike, broke into Soumyajit’s bike dicky, and fled with the cash. Soumyajit immediately reported the incident to the police.
Police Response
Upon receiving the news, Burla SDPO Asit Mohanty and Burla police station in-charge Anil Pradhan formed a team and launched raids at various locations. The police search was still ongoing when the report was written, but no clues regarding the miscreants had been found yet.
