102 assistant professors joined the medical college
Bhubaneswar: 102 assistant professors have joined under Odisha Medical Education Service (OMES) cadre today. They will be recruited in government medical colleges of different districts. A special program was held today at the Public Service Building.
Chief Minister Naveen Pattnaik participated in the program and said that it is necessary to give a “touch of humanity” while providing services to the patients. This profession requires total commitment in the health sector in the state to provide quality services to the public as well as to reduce the cost of the people. The state government is building new state-of-the-art medical infrastructure to provide quality healthcare services. The Chief Minister said that the ‘Aama Hospital’ scheme has been launched to transform hospitals with the establishment of a new medical college. Health Minister Niranjan Pujari said that 3000 more assistant professors have been appointed recently. He said that there is rapid growth in the state in providing free quality healthcare to the patients. Earlier, State Home Secretary Shalini Pandit delivered the welcome speech while DMRT Dr. Sajidananda Mohanty gave the vote of thanks.
It is mentioned that Koraput, Baripada, Baleshwar, Balangir, Puri, Keonjhar, Sundargarh and Kalahandi Medical Colleges have been established in the state in the last 6 years. Apart from this, PG Institute has been established in Cuttack ABPGIC and Capital Hospital. It has been decided to make Jajpur, Phulbani and Talcher Medical Colleges operational in 2024-25. In the year 2000, 321 MBBS doctors and 254 specialist doctors were released in the country, now 2525 MBBS and 856 specialist doctors are released every year. This number is increasing every year.
