5-Year-Old Makes It to the Record Book
Sambalpur: Alanya Sahu, a 5-year-old girl from Sambalpur, has been featured in the India Book of Records for her impressive skating skills.
Early Training in Karnataka
While her father Basudev Sahu was posted in Naval Base Karwar, Karnataka, Alanya began learning skating. In 2023, after retiring from the Navy, Basudev joined Odisha Gramya Bank in Sambalpur. Soon after, he started training Alanya regularly near Budharaja hill.

Skating Feat on Budharaja Hill
On April 16, Alanya performed a remarkable skating run. She skated up the Budharaja hill road in just 12 minutes and 87 seconds. Her family recorded the entire performance and sent the video to the India Book of Records office in Gurugram.
Recognition Received by Post
Later, on May 16, Alanya received an official certificate from the India Book of Records via post, confirming her achievement.
Training Under Professional Coach
Currently, Alanya is continuing her skating training under the guidance of coach Shashank Kumar Dash at the local Railway Stadium in Sambalpur.
