Sambalpur: Growing Terror of Tusk Elephant; Night of people is spent on the roof of the hut

Maneswar: Tusk Elephant terror has taken place in Balaranga and Kudhenisha under Batemura Panchayat under the Maneswar Book of Sambalpur District. The people of Kudhenisha are guarding the elephants in shifts. For a few days, a Tusk Elephant is coming to the village every day. He is breaking into someone’s house and taking grain sacks from someone’s house. People have farmland nearby, but villagers are reluctant to cultivate more due to elephants destroying crops. It is taking years to get the compensation. So far, some people have not received compensation yet. Harachand Naik (60) complained that the forest department is not providing even a piece of plastic to people to cover their houses after the destruction of houses by elephants.

On the 6th of May last, Kudenisha’s Natwar Munda went to Jungle and did not return. Some youths of the village found his dead body in the jungle. However, the forest department gave 60,000 to Natwar’s funeral. Wife Pushpa and son Vikram have complained that the compensation amount of 6 lakhs was promised but it has not been received so far. On the other hand, there is information that 4 people lost their lives along with this incident.

Allegations of Neglect by the Administration

Previously, a bloodthirsty tusk elephant named ‘Don’ had been a constant terror. Now People thought the same “Don” came to the village. Yesterday at 8 pm, a picture of this tusk elephant entering a petrol pump in Jujumura block came to light.
