Sambalpur: Dhankauda Weekly Friday Market Near the Main Road Shifted for Public Convenience

Sambalpur: The weekly market, which was previously held on the main road near the Dhankauda Block office, has been moved to a nearby location due to demand from the public. Locals were pleased with the municipal corporation’s decision. However, people have asked the government to set up a permanent pindi for this weekly market, which takes place every Friday.

For the past few years, a weekly market has been held every Friday on the road connecting the National Highway to Dhankuda Street. This weekly market opens at about 10 a.m. and stays until around 8 p.m. Plenty of community residents rely on this weekly market for their supplies. From 4 to 8 p.m., the area is crowded.

The road where the market used to be held is an important highway in the city, so it is busy throughout the day. Furthermore, the Dhankauda Hospital is located on the same road, resulting in an ongoing rush of patients and visitors. As a result of the market’s congestion, accidents are becoming more common at various times.

The market’s transfer to a nearby area is a step in the right direction, and the residents like it. However, they are now urging the authorities to designate a specific space exclusively for this weekly market to ensure smooth operations and minimize inconvenience to the public.
