People are Printing Money in London with Mumbai’s Dabbawala Business Idea, Anand Mahindra Impressed After Watching the Video

Anand Mahindra, a well-known industrialist, recently shared an interesting video on social media. The video showcases how the famous “Dabbawala” food delivery system of Mumbai has become a hit in London as well. While sharing the video, Mahindra made an insightful observation.

In the video, we can see that a company named “DabbaDrop” in London is using traditional Indian steel tiffin boxes to deliver food. They pack meals in these steel boxes and deliver them to people outside. The video further shows all the tiffin boxes neatly arranged in a large container and being transported to customers on a customized bicycle.

Sharing this video, Anand Mahindra wrote, “There can be no better and tastier evidence of reverse colonization than this.” He was referring to how an Indian cultural practice, like the Dabbawala system, has now found its way back to the West. At the time of writing this, Mahindra’s post had received over 500,000 views.

The post garnered numerous comments from users sharing their thoughts. Many pointed out that DabbaDrop has been inspired by Mumbai’s efficient Dabbawala system. Others noted that the Dabbawala system is so remarkable that it has become a case study for business management.

While the core concept remains the same, users were intrigued to spot the differences, if any, between London’s “DabbaDrop” and Mumbai’s iconic “Dabbawala” system. What distinctions did you notice between the two? Feel free to share your observations with us.
