Sambalpur: A horrific incident resulting from a land dispute. A neighbor attacked a mother and her daughter with a knife, leaving both in critical condition and undergoing treatment at Burla Medical. Despite the fact that multiple complaints about the land dispute had already been filed with the police, the neighbor attacked unexpectedly while the victims were on their way to their shop. The incident took place near the Ainthapali Police Station, Fatak in Sambalpur. The severely injured mother and daughter were initially taken to Sadar Medical and then transferred to Burla Medical. The police have opened a case and are investigating the incident. Suraj Hathi, the accused, is detained and interrogated at the police station.
According to reports, Indu Das has lived in the Danipali area with her husband, two daughters, and son for a long time. Her husband, a mosaic worker, is unable to work fully due to illness. To help support the family, Indu and her elder daughter run a small tailoring shop near the Fatak Mahamaya Temple. Despite their efforts, Indu was able to arrange an exemplary marriage for her elder daughter in the Riamal area of the Debgarh district. They also bought a plot of land in the Danipali neighborhood and built a house. However, a disagreement over a two-foot area near the house’s adjacent drain resulted in extended conflict between the families. Suraj had repeatedly threatened to kill them, and several complaints had been filed at the police station, but no resolution was reached.

Suraj attacked the mother and daughter with a knife while they were on their way to the tailoring shop today. Both had deep wounds on their back. Suraj fled the scene after the attack, while locals treated the victims at Sadar Medical. Because of their critical condition, they were later transferred to Burla Medical for additional care. Suraj has been detained, and police are conducting a thorough investigation. SDPO Tofan Bagh stated that the police arrived at the crime scene, conducted an investigation, and seized the knife used in the attack.
