Sambalpur: The number of meat shops in Burla is increasing day by day. Vendors are opening meat shops wherever they find space, some establishing permanent shops while others set up temporary stalls. This has led to the creation of foul-smelling environments, especially along main roads and near educational institutions.
Improper hygiene maintenance by these vendors results in stray dogs dragging animal skins and meat scraps onto the streets. Such scenes are tarnishing the image of the education city. Despite demands for a designated area for meat markets near the city, the SMC has yet to address the issue.
