Sambalpur: Police officer beaten in Rengali, Ankit’s mother at SP’s door
Sambalpur: Manoranjan Sahu and his son Ankit Sahu, both of Rengali area, were beaten a police officer on Friday. Rengali police arrested the father and son and took them to court. Ankit’s mother, Sushma Sahu, has lodged a complaint against the police officer. She went to the door of Sambalpur SDP and the Uttaranchal IG on Wednesday for justice. As there was no SDP, she submitted the claim to the Additional SDP.
According to his complaint, a police officer arrived at his hotel with his two friends in plain clothes at 7.50pm on Friday. He brought wine from a nearby liquor store and started drinking there. By refusing, they started abusing. Seeing this, he and his son Ankit tried to explain to them. However, they involved the in the fight. Some people came there as they shouted for help. The police officer and two of his friends then fled the scene. Shortly afterwards, Rengali police arrived and picked up Ankit and his father on charges of beating up the police. Police also seized a hard disk with CCTV camera footage and did not return it. Her husband and son were beaten by police and two of their friends, but no action was taken.
