Sambalpur: 3 days holiday claim for Ganaparba “Nuakhai” celebration
Sambalpur: Intellectuals have demanded to declare a 3-day public holiday on the occasion of Ganaparba “Nuakhai” (ନୂଆଁଖାଇ). On Tuesday, various organizations in Sambalpur have issued a demand letter to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to declare a holiday on the day before and the next day, including “Nuakhai” (ନୂଆଁଖାଇ). Due to the fact that the state government does not give proper recognition and respect to this Ganaparba “Nuakhai” (ନୂଆଁଖାଇ), various private and central organizations do not provide holidays at all.
Therefore, respecting the sentiments of the people of Western Odisha, the government should give a 3-day holiday, said Sameer Ranjan Babu of Sambalpuri Ekta Manch, Mahendra Mishra of Citizen Welfare Samithi, Mukesh Jariwal of Marwari Samaj, Rajaram Padhi of Progressive Sambalpur, Nihal Singh of Trust family, Trilochan Tripathi of Bhasa Parishad, Rajiv Lochan, Antharam Supakar, Amalendu Nayak, VK Ram, Dr. Sanjeev Mishra issued the demand letter.
