Sambalpur: Continuous Raid by Excise Dept. : more than 1 quintal of marijauna and 2 vehicle seized
Sambalpur: In Sambalpur, there has been a continuous raid of Excise Departmentt. A total of 1,150 kg of marijauna was seized from Sambalpur on Wednesday and 4 people were arrested. Sambalpur district anti-trafficking department has seized a car with 75 kg of marijauna, while investigation team has seized a car with 40 kg of cannabis, the estimated value of seized marijauna is 11 lakh rupees.
After receiving information from reliable sources about the smuggling of ganja through Sambalpur from Nabarangpur, a team under the direction of Ashok Seth, Superintendent of Sambalpur District Excise Department, inspected the road at various places. Suspicious of a vehicle bearing Chhattisgarh number (CG 04KT 4412), was checked near Dhanupali Street. 75 kg of Ganja found out of the vehicle. The excise department seized the vehicle with the marijuana and arrested Deepak Mehta of Sundargarh district and Ruchi Singh of Uttar Pradesh.
In the same way, excise department inspectors Dilip Rath, Alekh Pradhan and Banmali Rana were checking the vehicle near the toll gate. A Jharkhand numbered vehicle (JH 02BC 0484) was suspected and the excise department conducted a check. More than 40 kg of marijuana cfound out of it. Jharkhand’s Deepak Singh and Mukund Jadav were arrested by the excise department. They used to smuggle marijauna from Rayagada to Jharkhand.
