Sambalpur: Woman sends back ‘Barat’ and Groom after they demanded of Meat in Marriage Feast
Sambalpur: While the incident of the bridegroom returning after demand for meat has become the talk of the town, the girl’s definition, Sucharita Behera, has been praised from various quarters for her strong initiative. On the other hand, Sangya Sucharita from Gunderpur, gave her response to the media today and said that she will continue her studies and try to stand on her own feet.
According to Sangya Sucharita, various kinds of delicious dishes were prepared for the bridegrooms, starting from meat. Almost everyone at the groom’s party had already eaten. Only 5/6 people who came later had no meat during the meal. They scrambled for meat. From my father to us, all the senior citizens tried to understand them, but they were not in a position to understand.
Even though my grandfather, who is more than 70 years of age, prostrated themselves and asked for forgiveness. Sangya Sucharita, who refused to marry that man, wondered what respect I will get from a family where people do not respect my father and grandfather for meat. On the contrary, his uncle said in her response, “The groom came much later than the scheduled time.” Many of them took meat from the feast and drank alcohol. In a room on the premises of Mandap, 5/6 youths drank alcohol with meat till late at night. So, when they came to eat, all the other dishes were available, but the meat was finished. He said, “They made a mess by insisting on eating meat.”
It is worth noting that this unfortunate incident took place last Sunday night at a prominent wedding hall in the Sambalpur metropolitan area. Sangya Sucharita’s marriage to a bank officer in Sundargarh was arranged, but the affair was broken before the wedding ceremony and the bank officer groom had to go back. On the contrary, she advised other girls to never compromise with their dignity and honor and to try to stand on their own feet.
