Sambalpur: Burla PC Bridge Chowk Turning into Death Trap, Faulty Road Construction by Ashoka Buildcon to Blame

Sambalpur: The ongoing construction of a four-lane road from Sohela to Sambalpur, managed by the private company Ashoka Buildcon, has become a major hazard for pedestrians and residents. The poor quality and faulty construction are creating a potential disaster. Despite the incomplete roadwork, the company charges excessive tolls. Furthermore, tolls are collected using scanners, even on village roads. This substandard construction has also had an impact on the entry path to Burla, an educational city.

Faulty Construction Leading to Danger

The road between the Burla Power Channel Bridge and the Burla entryway, including the Overbridge Chhak, has become a death trap. Every day, thousands of people and vehicles pass through this chowk from Sambalpur to Burla, Bargarh, and vice versa. However, because of the flawed road design, these vehicles are now exposed to unexpected dangers. High-speed vehicles on both sides add to the danger, as pedestrians and drivers are frequently left waiting to cross.

Accidents Becoming Common

Many accidents occur while crossing the National Highway, resulting in serious injuries and even fatalities. Local residents and lawyers have repeatedly called for the construction of an overbridge or underpass to resolve this issue. Many developed cities have underpasses for safe crossings, which reduces the likelihood of accidents. Unfortunately, buses and other vehicles have collided due to poor road construction at the Burla Overbridge entry. The narrow bends make it difficult for large vehicles to navigate safely.

Urgent Need for Overbridge or Underpass

Poor planning and hasty road construction are resulting in the loss of precious lives. There is an increasing demand for an overbridge or underpass near the PC Bridge to ensure pedestrian safety and prevent future accidents. Widening the road will also reduce the likelihood of accidents, making Burla a safer place for all.
