Sambalpur: Chief Minister’s Wish to Eat New Harvest Fulfilled, Announces Mahanadi Riverfront Project

Sambalpur: On Nuakhai, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi expressed a strong desire to participate in the traditional celebration of eating the new harvest. When Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra invited him to Sambalpur for Nuakhai, the Chief Minister gladly accepted. Along with this visit, the state government decided to host the CM Kisan Yojana launch event in Sambalpur.

Visit to Samaleswari Temple and Nuakhai Celebration

During his visit, the Chief Minister prayed at the Samaleswari Temple and celebrated Nuakhai, fulfilling a long-held wish. He stated that he has a strong connection to Sambalpur and Western Odisha and is dedicated to ensuring the region’s development.

Mahanadi Riverfront Development Project Announced

Officials announced the Mahanadi Riverfront Development Project as one of the most significant initiatives during the visit. The project, modeled after Gujarat’s Sabarmati Riverfront, will include the construction of a 6-kilometer road along both sides of the Mahanadi River. The government will build parks to improve the area’s beauty and recreational opportunities.

Union Minister’s Support for the Project

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, who accompanied the Chief Minister on the visit, praised the Chief Minister’s efforts. He thanked Majhi for allocating funds for the project in the state budget, as he requested. The Union Minister, along with MLA Jaynarayan Mishra, toured the proposed development area.

A Historic Moment for Sambalpur

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari described the day as historic for Sambalpur. He emphasized that it was a special occasion, particularly for MLA Jay Narayan Mishra and himself, because the Chief Minister and Union Minister both attended the Nuakhai celebrations. He noted that this was the first time a Chief Minister had attended the festival in Sambalpur, which was a significant moment for the region.

Funds Allocated for Canal Development

In another significant development, the Chief Minister approved funds totaling nearly ₹900 crore, which will ensure the completion of the canal system, enabling water to reach even the furthest ends of the canal. He emphasized that the state, with collective efforts, aims to improve the lives of farmers and promote the overall growth of Odisha.
