Employee Steals Gold Chains
Sambalpur: On Tuesday, the owner of Ira Jewelers in Budharaja borrowed six gold chains from Jewelry World on VSS Road to show a customer. Employee Manoj Sharma (50) took 320.390 grams of gold chains from Jewelry World and left. However, he did not return to the shop at the scheduled time. Attempts to contact him by phone failed as his mobile was switched off, prompting Shantanu Agarwal, the owner of Jewelry World, to file a complaint at Dhanupali Police Station.
Arrest and Recovery
The police registered a case (Case No. 275/9.7.24) and began investigating. A special police team arrested Manoj Sharma from Nimchaudi village in Lalbagh, Cuttack district. They recovered five chains, liquid gold, a bike (OR-05T-0528), and a mobile phone from the accused. The estimated value of the seized gold is ₹26,48,846. Additional SP Haresh Pandey provided this information at the district police headquarters.

Suspects in Multiple Cases Arrested
Maoist Activity Suspect Arrested
In addition, information about the arrest of suspects in three different cases was provided from various police stations throughout the district. Jayakrishna Dehuri of Talab village, under Kisinda Police Station, fled with five others on June 14, 2014, due to Maoist activity. He was released on bail on December 30, 2014. Following a dispute with his sister-in-law, he threatened to kill her on July 9, 2024, with three rounds of bullets. His brother filed a complaint at Kisinda Police Station on July 10, 2024, which resulted in his arrest (Case No. 49/10.7.2024). He was taken into custody with a gun loaded with six rounds of ammunition.
Drug Seizure
Police searched five individuals traveling by bus from Boudh to Rairakhol railway station, seizing 40 kilograms of marijuana from their bags. Rairakhol police arrested the suspects and brought them to court.
Sexual Assault on Minor
Similarly, Nabakishore Nayak of the Post Office area of Jujumura Police Station has been keeping a minor girl at his home and sexually assaulting her since 2021. He did not let her meet her family. Following a complaint, the police rescued the minor and arrested the accused, who was then brought before court.
