Sambalpur: During a review of Sambalpur district development activities today, Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik delivered a stern message to officials. He encouraged officers to work hard while warning that accountability would be enforced.

Government Goals and Expectations

Minister Nayak stated at a review meeting in the District Council Conference Hall, presided over by District Magistrate Akshay Sunil Agrawal, that the people have chosen a new government after 24 years. The BJP government inspires significant hope and trust. The BJP issued a manifesto during the elections, and it is now time to carry out those promises. Our government has set a target of 100 days. Following these 100 days, we will establish new goals for one, two, and up to five years to further development activities. As a result, we must work hard to accomplish as much as possible for the people.

Collaboration and Development Plans

After 100 days, I will present my department’s report card, and you must report on your accomplishments during that time. Minister Naik emphasized that district officials should ensure that their subordinates meet these standards. He also advised district officers to collaborate with Rabi Naik and Jayanarayan Mishra to maximize the benefits for the Sambalpur district. He requested detailed reports on what could be done for Sambalpur, as well as project funding. Our goal is to transform Sambalpur into a model district.

MLA Jay Narayan Mishra’s on Bangladeshi Infiltrators

Meanwhile, Sambalpur MLA Jaynarayan Mishra raised concerns about Bangladeshi infiltrators in Sambalpur. He noted that these people frequently arrive in Sambalpur via two buses. He asked the SP, Mukesh Bhamu if there was any record of these individuals. SP Bhamu responded that detailed information will be kept, and the task will be completed within a month.

Mishra also emphasized the importance of livestock to the district’s economic development. He discussed which goat and pig breeds would be the most profitable. Officers were impressed by Mishra’s extensive knowledge of animal husbandry. He also asked several questions about agriculture and made various suggestions.

District Council Chairman Kumudini Nayak, Police Inspector General Himanshu Lal, and Additional District Magistrate Ajambar Mahanti all attended the meeting. Many officials, accustomed to traditional methods of operation, appeared unprepared for the leaders’ proactive approach.

Wat Returns to the Stadium Room!

The Public Health Department (previously Wat) was quickly removed from the stadium room before work on it began. MLA Jaynarayan Mishra expressed his dissatisfaction with this issue. Following this, the District Magistrate verbally stated that Wat would return to its original location. This move was made to provide convenience and ease of service to the public.

Opening But Not Repairing

The Sewerage Department has opened roads without first repairing them. This issue was raised during the meeting to express dissatisfaction. No Sewerage Department officials were present. The department head received criticism because this matter falls under their purview. Before finalizing payments, the District Magistrate requested that a written certificate be kept to ensure that all roads were restored to their original condition.

Jay Takes Officials’ Class

Due to the Public Works Department’s negligence, MLA Jaynarayan Mishra inquired about the total kilometers of roads in the district and how many are motorable. The Public Works Department officials were unable to provide an answer. The MLA insisted that they speak up and share whatever knowledge they had.

Instructions for Identifying Foreign Nationals

During the review meeting, the police gave their report. MLA Jaynarayan Mishra stated that Burla Vimsar had security issues related to a variety of crimes. He questioned why the police didn’t check people’s backgrounds before hiring them. He also claimed that there are over 5,000 Bangladeshi nationals in Sambalpur, raising concerns about the district police administration’s actions. He noted that three buses arrive from the Bangladesh border on a regular basis, raising the question of whether they are monitored. The police responded, claiming they were identified as laborers and promising to conduct background checks and investigate outsiders within a month.

Speed bumps on National Highway

The National Highway Authority project coordinator presented information about various roads. During this time, IG Himanshu Lal emphasized the inconvenience caused to patients by speed bumps on the Sambalpur-Anugul National Highway. The MLA referred to the Supreme Court’s directive in this matter. Following widespread dissatisfaction, officials promised to remove the speed bumps from the national highway within the next seven days. Additionally, it was stated that the Sambalpur-Anugul National Highway project would be completed by the end of August.

Show Where Drains Have Been Cleaned.

An irrigation department official stated that the Dhobijor and Tangana drains in Sambalpur were being cleaned. Dissatisfied, the MLA requested to see the locations where cleaning had been completed. Following this, instructions were given to use more labor and machinery to speed up the process. The irrigation department official promised to clean all drains by June 30, with the work completed by July 1.

Stop Collecting Old Pending Electricity Bills -Jayanarayan Mishra

MLA Jaynarayan Mishra criticized Tata Power officials during today’s review meeting. He demanded that Tata Power (TPWODL) stop collecting old pending electricity bills since they took over the state’s electricity supply responsibilities. He questioned why they were collecting bills for periods not covered by their agreement with the government. Mishra also expressed concerns about the use of goons to disconnect electricity connections while collecting past-due bills. He inquired as to the source of their authority. He criticized the lack of improved electricity services and the frequency of power outages. He questioned why there are low voltage issues in Khetrajpur. Mishra questioned why people are not receiving improved electricity services despite paying for them. The departmental superintendent engineer was unable to provide satisfactory answers to Jaynarayan Mishra’s questions.
