Sambalpur: Late-Night Clash in Sambalpur Bael Festival, Old Dispute Sparks Violent Knife Assault, Two Injured

Sambalpur: On Tuesday night during the Bael Festival, a violent incident occurred in Talab village, which is under the jurisdiction of the Sasan Police Station. As a result, two people were injured in a knife attack over a previous dispute.

Incident Details

According to SDPO Tufan Bag, the altercation occurred late at night when Manish Sahu (23) and Abinash Rathore (99), along with their companions, went to Talab to attend the Bael Festival. Around 3 a.m., a heated argument broke out between the Nibas Nayak and Abinash groups, resulting in a physical confrontation.

The Attack

In the presence of the police, Nibas Nayak and his associates became agitated and attacked Abinash and Manish with a sharp weapon. Abinash sustained severe injuries on his back and other parts of his body, while Manish suffered a head injury.

Medical Aid and Police Action

Both victims were immediately rescued and admitted to Burla VIMSAR Hospital for treatment, as confirmed by SDPO Bag. Meanwhile, the local residents apprehended Nibas Nayak and his associates, handing them over to the police.

Despite the presence of police, the villagers were dissatisfied with the incident because it involved a violent assault that left two people critically injured. Sasan Police have filed a case and launched an investigation.
