Sambalpur: Man Blackmails Woman Demanding Rs. 10 Lakh in Burla; Accused Sent to Court

Sambalpur: Burla police arrested a man for blackmailing a woman after getting into a relationship with her. The accused, Sangram Keshari Das (36), is from Gadabaguda in Nabarangpur district’s Town Police Station area. After his arrest, police presented him in court.
How the Blackmail Began
According to reports, Sangram connected with the woman on Instagram and started chatting with her. Over time, they exchanged phone numbers and continued talking. During their interactions, he managed to obtain some private videos of the woman. Using these videos, he began blackmailing her.

Extortion Attempts
Initially, Sangram demanded Rs. 12,000 from the woman, threatening to leak her videos. Out of fear and embarrassment, she gave him the money. However, he later demanded Rs. 10 lakh more, increasing the pressure on her.
Police Intervention and Arrest
Unable to bear the harassment, the woman finally lodged a complaint at Burla police station. Acting swiftly, the police arrested Sangram and sent him to court.
