Sambalpur: In a shocking incident, a group of young Burla men allegedly collected and edited a woman’s social media photo, adding inappropriate words. The photographs went viral, causing widespread outrage in the town.
Police Take Swift Action
Following the incident, over 100 women went to the police station on Thursday to file a formal complaint. Burla police have taken the incident seriously and launched an investigation. To address the growing misuse of social media, the police have established a dedicated ‘Social Cell’ to monitor any threatening messages, videos, or photos that are circulated.

The police have warned that such actions, which undermine social values, breed hatred and can even result in life-threatening situations. SDPO Ambit Mahanty spoke on the subject, emphasizing that if the situation is not addressed, it will worsen.
