The festival of colours, Holi is fast approaching and preparations to celebrate the day is in full swing. This year, the festival is being celebrated on March 8. It is a very popular festival in India and is celebrated in all states of the country. People smear gulal and other coloured powders on each other and some coloured water on each other via ‘pichkaris’ or buckets that don’t hurt. There are several dance numbers everyone dances to and it is also about a lot of specific food items that are made on this day. Dahi bhalla to bhaang spiked thandai and sweets like gujiya and more are served on this colourful festival.

Holi signifies the triumph of good over evil. People also distribute sweets and gifts to their loved ones on this precious occasion. People dress up in white to celebrate Holi and play with colours. Many families also arrange a puja at their home to pray for prosperity, wealth, good health and luck.
