Sambalpur: Police Recovered Two Stolen Bikes in Sambalpur; Two Accused Arrested, Thieves Confess Tamil Nadu Plans

Sambalpur: Sambalpur police recovered two stolen bikes and arrested two suspects involved in separate thefts. On November 21, late at night, two bikes were stolen—one from a construction site in the Saralakani area and another from Niladri Vihar. After receiving complaints, Dhanupali Police registered two cases and launched an investigation.

Suspects Intercepted During Vehicle Check

On Sunday night, during a vehicle check near Saralakani Chowk, police stopped two suspicious youths riding a bike without a registration number. During questioning, they confessed to stealing the bike. They also admitted to stealing another bike and provided details about its location.

Arrest and Recovery

The suspects, identified as Amulya Hans (21) from Sarala and Uttam Munda (21) from Khaparadera Pada, were arrested. Based on their information, police recovered both stolen bikes. The suspects were produced in court on Monday.

Motive Behind the Theft

The suspects stated that they planned to travel to Tamil Nadu for work. However, they lacked funds for train tickets, food, and lodging. To fund their trip, they decided to steal and sell bikes. They stole two bikes on the night of November 21 and were looking for buyers when police apprehended them.

The number of bike thefts has increased, raising concerns among police. Authorities are investigating new trends in vehicle thefts and developing strategies to address the problem. Senior officers have met to discuss effective strategies for preventing such crimes.
