RBI Releases April Bank Holiday Schedule: 14 Days of Closure Nationwide
As the new fiscal year begins in April 2024, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the bank holiday calendar for the month. According to the most recent information available on the official RBI website, banks across the country will be closed for a total of 14 days in April. These closures include several festival holidays held in different states, as well as the regular weekend breaks on Saturdays and Sundays.
In April, there are 6 holidays, including Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays. Additionally, banks will be closed on April 1 for the annual bank closing. Furthermore, several states will close on April 5 for Babu Jagjivan Ram’s birth anniversary and April 9 for Telugu New Year, which is celebrated in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. In addition, there will be a bank holiday on either April 10 or 11 for Eid. Notably, April 13th and 14th are vacations for Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti, which fall on the second Saturday and Sunday of the month.
Furthermore, banks will close on April 17 for Ram Navami, while banks in Manipur will be closed on April 20 for Garia Puja. However, it’s worth noting that the amount of bank holidays varies by state. In particular, Odisha will have nine bank holidays in April. These include the 1st, 11th, and 17th of April, as well as Sundays, and the second and fourth Saturdays of the month.
