Sambalpur: A 50-feet tall Ravan statue will be made, fireworks will be the main attraction
Sambalpur: After a long gap of two years due to Corona, the Ravan Dahan festival of Sambalpur Dalaipada will be celebrated with great show and pomp this year. This year the Ravan Statue will be about 50 feet tall. In a press conference held at Hotel Dolphin today, the Rabanpodi festival committee informed that fireworks will be the main attraction of the Raban Podi event. Committee President Sidharth Saha and Editor Anup Taria gave information about the program to be held at Ringroad Mahanadi Ghat at 6:30 PM on the coming 5th of Holy Vijaya Dashami.
A procession will take place at 4:00 pm on the same day before Ravan Dahan. The procession will start from Durgamandap Daleipada, pass through Kunjelpada, Nandapada, Jhaduapada, and reach Ringroad Mahanadi Ghat at Rabanpodi. In this procession, there will be 30 young men dressed as Hanuman along with Rama and Laxman. Cultural teams from Cuttack, Ganjam, and Sundergarh will participate. 8 local artists are making statues of Ravan using environmentally friendly materials. It is informed that there is a budget of 8 to 10 lakh rupees for this celebration.
At the press conference, the president of the Durga Puja Committee, Parmeshwar Rana, Vice President of the Ravana Podi Committee Shishir Pandey, Treasurer Rahul Thakur, and Member Abhishek Kejriwal were present.
