Sambalpur: After the start of the rain, soil fell heavily again from Laxmidunguri
Sambalpur: After the start of the rain, it started felling soil again from Laxmidunguri. Last night the soil fell heavily. No one was harmed. Like last year, the Laxmidunguri side of the National Highway has been closed this time too. The road has been closed at the beginning of Mahanadi Bridge and near the Durgapali road junction.
Notably, the construction of the much-awaited Laxmidunguri tunnel does not seem to be starting. The project was given the green light by the central government last year. 37 crores have been sanctioned for this project by the National Highways Department of the Central Government. IIT Bhubaneswar was entrusted with the design of the tunnel in November last year. Meanwhile, the IIT team has come to Sambalpur and visited the area several times. However, the design has not yet been finalized. It is worth noting that there has been a very common occurrence from Laxmidunguri during the rainy season. Traffic has been stopped on the Laxmidunguri side of the National Highway to avoid any possible danger. The busy Sambalpur-Bargarh National Highway is prone to accidents due to traffic on one side. Many people are dying. Since the construction of the National Highway, there has been a demand to build a tunnel here. The effort was started when Balwant Singh was the District Collector here but for many years, the project was in cold storage.
