Sambalpur: Attack on a police station in midnight, a former SDA chairman, his son and 5 others were arrested
Jayabrata Dey, a former chairman of the Sambalpur Development Authority, and 5 others, including his son, were arrested on Sunday night on charges of assault inside Dhanupali police station. Dhanupali police, including 3 members of their opposition group, a total of seven people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
According to Dhanupali police, the son of suspended BJP leader Jayabrata Dey, Rochit Dey, his friend Mohammad Sohail and Sadiq Ahmed Raza parked their car in front of the Gift Palace Hotel on the local Veer Surendra Sai Marg road at around 11.40 pm on Sunday. Sheikh Mujib, Mohsin Aktar alias Bitu and Sushant Haro and 3-4 youths from the area came and asked what they were doing here at night while they were give-n -take money inside the car. There was a fight between the two sides over this. On the other hand, Rochit’s shirt collar is teared and attempted to loot his mobile phone. Rochit was forced to flee his car to escape, Mohsim Aktar alias Biju fell to the ground and was injured. Rochit escaped and called his father, Jayabrata Dey. Jayabrata Dey arrived at the scene with some people. There was another scuffle between the two sides.
Police PCR arrived and Sheikh Mujib, Mosim Aktar and Sushant Haro were taken to Dhanupali police station. Shortly afterwards, Jayabrata Dey, Rochit Dey, Sohail Sadiq, Ahmed Raja and their three accomplices arrived at Dhanupali police station with hockey sticks and sticks. Despite the police ban, Jayabrata Dey, his son Rochit and his associates insulted Sheikh Mujib, Mosim Aktar and Sushant Haro and attacked him with a hockey stick. Police Superintendent Batula Gangadhar also reached the police station at night.
Earlier, the Dhanupali police had filed a case and the case of Mosim Akhtar, an opposition group, based on the allegations made by Rochit Dey, Jayabrata’s son, in a scuffle in front of the Hotel Gift Palace Hotel. Former SDA chairperson Jayabrata Dey (54), Rochit Dey (22), Mohammad Sohail Sadiq (25) of Kumbharpada and Ahmed Raza (22) of Bhutapada have been arrested. Sheikh Mujibaddin alias Mujib (35), Mohammad Mohsin Akhtar alias Biju alias Biju and Sushant Haro (30) of Kumbharpada have been arrested in connection with the case, which is based on allegations made by the Jayabrata group. Two hockey sticks, three sticks, four mobile phones and a numberless car were seized from the accused. According to the latest information, Jayabrata Dey, his son and five other accused have been sent to jail.
