Sambalpur: Cardiac services were temporarily suspended at night in Vimsar due to shortage of doctors, ‘Doctors to be on call for emergency’
Burla: The Cardiology department is an emergency department among other departments of Burla Vimsar. Earlier, Burla Vimsar was the only referral center for poor patients in various districts of Western Odisha as well as Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh where doctors were also present in the cardiology department from 5 pm to 9 am to provide emergency services. But a few days ago, the doctor of the department was promoted. Nayan Patel was promoted from the position of assistant professor to the position of associate professor, while there are only 3 doctors in the department. Shivaram Panda is the sole assistant professor. On the contrary, there is no senior resident doctor to provide services to the patients of the department so far. As it is not possible to provide 24-hour service for Dr. Panda alone, until a new senior resident doctor is appointed in the department, the service will be closed from 5 pm to 9 am. But in case of emergency, the doctor will come on call and provide services, said the head of the department. Sunil Sharma has drawn the attention of Prof. Rajnish Tudu, Director of In Charge through Wednesday’s letter number 141.
