Sambalpur: Complaint against Dhankuada BEO, Corruption and Commission Transaction behind in Supply of School Bags
Sambalpur: Another complaint has been received against Dhankuada BEO. Now the scandal of providing bags to students has come to light. Dhankuada Primary Teachers Union has filed a complaint in this regard. Under the LRP scheme of the state government, bags are provided to the students. The students have been given Rs.129 each by the government. From the Dhankuada BEO’s office, money has been sent to the personal account of the principal of all the schools in the block.
He also directed the CRCC to collect the said money from the principals in the form of cheques. Dhankuada Block Primary Teachers’ Union has raised an objection on this. Block Primary Teachers Union President Judhisthir Majhi said in a press release, “The BEO LRP should pay the money for the bags for the second and third classes to the school’s account.” The school has three bank accounts namely Permanent Account, MDM Account and SSA Account. Since it is government money, the money should be sent to any one of these 3 accounts. But, by sending money to the personal accounts of the principals, they are now forcing them to pay in the form of cheques. He has alleged that BEO is inciting corruption by doing such work.
There is widespread corruption in the office of Dhankuada BEO. Mr. Majhi said in this press release that it is absolutely necessary to investigate them. In this regard, after asking BEO Surendra Sahu, he said that the bag money is given to the children at the rate of Rs. 129. However, the money should never go to a personal account. A joint account of SMC and Principal should be provided. However, the BEO never remitted the money alone. Mr. Sahu said that the money would have been sent under the joint signature of BEO and BRCC and ABEO.
Meanwhile, investigations have revealed that the BEO office has contacted a company called Basanti Bag and Ballot House to supply the bags. In the meantime, bags have been provided to 9 clusters of this block, while the remaining 13 clusters are yet to be provided. These 13 clusters have been given money in the form of cheques from the principals to the CRCCs. It is said that there is a ‘commission transaction’ behind it.
It is worth noting that Sambalpur District Primary Teachers’ Association and its Dhankuada block branch filed a demand letter against the Dhankuada BEO last month to the District Collector. Delayed payment of salary to teachers, no timely sanction of annual increment, non-payment of ‘family pension’ and other bereavement benefits to the family of assistant teacher Vibhishan Bagh, working as the acting headmaster of Garhmunda UP School, redressal of grievances of teachers and repeated harassment. A complaint was filed. Well, the list of complaints is now long. Even after complaining to the District Collector, no result has been found yet.
