Sambalpur: Dalmia House Robbed in Khetrajpur; Thieves Cut Grilled Window, Looted 70k Cash and More

Sambalpur: The city of Sambalpur has been rocked by yet another daring robbery, the third such incident in the last two months. This time, a gang of thieves targeted the house of a local businessman, Keshav Dalmia, in the Poddar Colony area under the jurisdiction of the Khetrajpur police station.

The daring heist happened between 2 and 3 p.m. on Sunday, while the Dalmia family was sound asleep. A gang of five men arrived on 2 motorcycles and began their operation by cutting through the wire fence behind the house. While one man stood guard outside, the other four cut off the grilled window and gained entry.

Once inside, the thieves stole a silver dining set, 70k cash, and some jewelry from the house. Their activities roused a family member, who raised an alarm, prompting the robbers to flee the scene hastily.

The Dalmia family reported the event to the police the next morning, and they quickly dispatched a team to the scene. The scientific team also arrived to collect evidence and investigate further.

This latest robbery has once again brought into question the effectiveness of the local police force, as the Khetrajpur area has seen a surge in thefts and robberies in recent months. Residents allege that the poor police presence and the rising drug trade in the area have encouraged criminal elements to openly challenge law enforcement authorities.

The police have stated that they are reviewing CCTV footage and conducting a thorough investigation into the incident. However, with elections looming and the enforcement of the code of conduct, police resources are already stretched thin.

The people of Sambalpur are increasingly concerned about the audacious nature of these crimes and the authorities’ apparent incapacity to properly counter them.
