Sambalpur DHH: A patient’s life in the hands of the sweeper, Doing stitches, measure blood pressure
Sambalpur: Holding Scissor and doing stitches. Measuring blood pressure. Dressing wounds or cuts. It is not the doctor or nurse but the sweeper employed at the Sambalpur District Hospital is performing this duty. Sweeper are dressed as doctors for hundreds of patients coming here. Due to which the patient’s life is in danger. It is alleged that even though such irresponsible work is going on in DHH, the officials are knowingly keeping silent. In the presence of doctors, sweepers and security guards are dressed as doctors in DHH. They are now doing the work that should be done by doctors or nurses. Such complaints are coming again and again.
♦ Distinct system of District Headquarter Hospital
♦ Doctor cover up for Sweepers
♦ No such complaint – ADMO
Yesterday, a patient went to the district head hospital for treatment due to an injury on his face. There, the doctor suggested stitches on his face. But neither the doctor nor the pharmacist came to stitch. A sweeper who was present held a needle and a scissor in his hand and did the stiches. Even so, such irresponsible work at DHH the Xylocaine (narcotic injection) has also given to the patient by the sweepers.
Destitute poor people are coming to the district head hospital for treatment. But they are surprised to see such health facilities. Even though they did not have the courage to protest the sweeper and the security guard from being treated, It is alleged that there are various threats and warnings if they not to treat. Regarding this, a relative of the patient said, earlier, the blood pressure was often measured by security guards. They were doing all this in the presence of the doctor. Now the incident of stitching up by a sweeper has damaged the image of the district health system. It is said that despite informing the departmental officials, no one is listening.
The District Chief Medical Officer has not opened his mouth about such medical system in DHH. The Additional District Chief Medical Officer said, “There has been no complaint that the sweeper or the security guard is giving treatment.” There will be an investigation if so. Similarly, another officer of DHH said, “We have information that a sweeper is doing stitches.” No one refuses him because he drinks alcohol regularly and abuses us. Otherwise, 4/5 newly hired attendants do stitching and dressing work They do if there is a slight stitch. “Otherwise, doctors do it in the operating room,” he said.
