Sambalpur: Disastrous Traffic System; Evening Jams at Church Chowk Flyover in Fatak, Sambalpur
Sambalpur: The population of Sambalpur city is increasing day by day. Two flyovers have been constructed from Nelson Mandela Chowk to Budharaja to control congestion. As the road is under the flyover from Nelson Mandela Chowk, the vehicular traffic on the road is divided into two parts. As a result, traffic on both streets and flyovers has become easier. There is no road under the flyover from Church Chowk to Budharaja. Pedestrians only travel on the flyover as the railway line crosses underneath. Fatak Road is opposite GM University, AN Guha Lane, District Head Quarters Hospital, and Laxmitalkies Chowk connect here. The congestion naturally increases as vehicles come from four roads and travel on one road. As a result, traffic problems are seen here throughout the day. It is not possible to travel on this road in the evening. Rough driving on the flyover is adding to the problem. The situation is that about a hundred vehicles are standing back to back. As a result, the entire flyover has to be traversed at a slow speed. Ambulances carrying patients are often seen getting stuck.
Only Laxmitalkies Chowk in Sambalpur city has a systematic traffic system. In all other intersections, people are moving freely. Traffic control was not properly managed even though traffic officers were stationed at Church Chowk. Because it is on the flyover that traffic rules are being violated. There is a popular demand to depute traffic personnel on the flyovers as well to control the crowd.
