Sambalpur: District Bar Association has again intensified its agitation demanding the establishment of permanent bench of High Court in Sambalpur
The office-court has become inactive in Sambalpur. On behalf of the Central Action Committee of Western Odisha Bar Associations, the state government has issued several demands for the establishment of a permanent bench of the High Court in Sambalpur. Time was also sought for a meeting with the Chief Minister in this regard. However, as the Chief Minister did not give time, the Central Action Committee went to the capital city of Bhubaneswar on September 28 and started an agitation. However, during the advocate’s agitation, a delegation of the Central Action Committee was called and three ministers and senior officials of the state government held a long discussion. Sweet promise too. However, the government has not sent a complete proposal to the central government with the opinion of the Odisha High Court for the establishment of a permanent bench of the High Court in Sambalpur.
Therefore, the Sambalpur District Bar Association has decided to shut down the trial courts and state government offices on Wednesdays of every month until the demands are met. In this series today, the members of the Bar Association picketed in front of all the government offices and stopped them. Locks were seen hanging in front of all government offices, starting from RDC, District Collector, Vice Collector, Tehsil. However, Banks, LICs, Metropolitan Corporations, Schools and Colleges, Fuse Call Centers etc. were excluded from it. District Bar Association President Sureshwar Mishra, led by editor Saroj Sahu , lawyers picketed and stopped. It is worth noting that the District Bar Association is also opposing the connection of electricity prepaid meter and water meter which has been started in Sambalpur as a pilot project.
In the name of pilot project, public awareness is being created against torture and arbitrary administrative action against the innocent people of Sambalpur. Since the state government is closing its doors to Sambalpur and especially Western Odisha, it was seen that banners were put up in some places to fully support the movement for separate statehood. The movement had the same popular support as before. However, while the SDA office was open during the agitation, some people reached there and threw stones at the chairs and tables.
