Sambalpur: Elderly Man Stoned to Death; Suspect Arrested, Allegedly Under Influence of Alcohol or Drugs
Sambalpur: On Saturday night in Ainthapali, an old man, Pappu Srivastav, was crudely stoned to death between 10 and 11 p.m. Surath Raut of Khajurpada reported the body to the Ainthapali police station at around midnight. The police rushed to the spot and found Pappu lying on Ainthapali Street. They immediately took him to the Sambalpur District General Hospital, but sadly, the doctors declared him dead.
Based on Surath’s statement, the police registered a case and began investigating the brutal crime. Their efforts led them to arrest a 20-year-old man named Ayush Munda from Mahanadi Bihar on Sunday. The police also recovered the stone used in the attack.
While the exact reason for the murder is still unclear, reports suggest that Ayush was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Apparently, he got into an argument with the elderly Pappu, which escalated into violence. This ultimately leads to Ayush repeatedly hitting Pappu’s head with the stone until he dies.
During a press conference on Sunday, SDPO Tofan Bag revealed that Ayush has a criminal history. He has been involved in other criminal activities before and has multiple cases filed against him.
