Sambalpur: Extensive preparations for Sambalpuri Day
Sambalpuri Day has now turned from a concept into a movement
Sambalpur: According to the conclusion of Guru Satya Narayan Bohidar’s birth centenary program, the decision taken by the Western Union Ekta Mancha to celebrate Sambalpuri Day in the last 10 years can now be turned into a movement.
Day by day ‘Sambalpuri Day’ is being accepted as the day of Asmita by the people of the Western odisha. Satya Narayan Bohidar’s life was devoted to the propagation of Sambalpari language culture. The more places where Sambalpuri Day is celebrated, the more Sambalpuri language is spoken and spread of culture, said Pramod Rath, coordinator of ‘Sambalpuri Day’ program. Western Ekta Mancha has been organizing Sambalpuri Day in different parts of the state including Sambalpur. Sambalpuri Day is celebrated on West Odisha along with various districts and cities in Bhubaneswar on behalf of Manch. We have received information that such programs are being organized abroad as well,” said Bhavani Bhoi, host of Western Ekta Mancha, in a press conference at Hotel Sheela Tower.
On the last 24th, a rangoli and drawing competition was held by Tamanna Foundation on the invitation of Western Union Ekta Mancha. The ‘Sambal’ institute has been given responsibility for the bike parade on the 30th. Blood donation camp will be organized by Sambalpuri Language Culture Council on 1st Aug.
While efforts are underway to organize Sambalpuri Day in more than 30 places, this will be organized in Jharsuguda, Sundergarh and Bargarh along with Sambalpur. A state-level ‘Sambaluri Day’ will be organized at Sambalpur Jail Chowk. After the 10 am poetry reading, the cultural program will continue from 1 am to 9 pm. Cultural groups from the district and outside the district will participate in it. Winners of the photo competition will be honored on the main stage for Sambalpuri Day. This year, ‘Guru Satya Narayan Sambalpuri National Honor’ will be given to Sambalpuri organizer and Guru Bhagwat Pradhan of Kuchari village. Along with this, Mr. Bhoi said that Guru Gadhar Bariha will also be honoured. In the press conference, chief coordinator of the institute Manas Ranjan Baksi, Sambalpur branch coordinator Lalit Mohan Bebarsa, literature coordinator Gunaranjan Salima Manchasin were present.
