Sambalpur: Fertilizer Trader Kidnapped, Rescued in Burla with 80,000 Loot
Sambalpur: On Monday night at 8:40 p.m., Ashok Kumar Dani (55), a fertilizer trader from the Binika area of Subarnapur district, was kidnapped. The merchant, who lived in Binika Danipali, ran a fertilizer and pesticide shop about 3 kilometers from the village. Ashok was riding home on a bike with an associate after closing his shop at 8:30 p.m. when he was kidnapped by miscreants on Danipali Street.
As Ashok got off the bike, the criminals quickly seized him in a car. A companion of Ashok on the bike attempted to object, but the miscreants pushed him and ran. The worried associate, together with Ashok’s family, immediately reported the incident to the Binika Police Station. The Binika Police, moving quickly, alerted the Sambalpur District Police.
The police launched a road-checking effort along the route from Binika to Sambalpur in an attempt to catch the kidnappers. Despite their attempts, the miscreants managed to evade the police in Godbhaga. During the attempted escape, the kidnappers pushed Ashok out of the moving car at Burla. They physically assaulted him in the car and stole around Rs 80,000-90,000.
The kidnappers used a car from Kia company with the UP number. They spoke in Hindi, police said. They demanded money from Ashoka. While it is unknown whether the kidnapping was for monetary gain or another secret reason, the authorities are actively investigating the case.
