Sambalpur: Homeless Crisis in Sambalpur: Woman’s Heartbreaking Cry for Aid Reaches District Collector
Sambalpur: An elderly woman was observed crying in front of the District Collector’s office in Sambalpur on Monday. She, the wife of Bhagat Giri Goswami from Durgapali, had come to seek help for herself because his husband was ill. In 2002, their hut was demolished during a dam restoration project, forcing them to resettle near the Hanuman temple after clearing the bushes.
Unfortunately, a similar situation occurred after 21 years, forcing the woman to seek help from the District Collector. The state government’s Jaga Mission initiative aims to provide housing solutions for the homeless, especially slum people affected by transitions. However, in Sambalpur, the mission appears to be failing, as encroachments continue and the homeless population’s complaints are on the rise. The situation suggests a need for effective implementation and rehabilitation to address the growing issue of homelessness in the area.
