Sambalpur: HSRP Hypocrisy; District Collector’s Vehicle Spotted Without High-Security Registration Plate
Sambalpur: It appears that there is a discrepancy in the implementation of High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) in Sambalpur District, with even the District Collector, Akshay Sunil Agarwal, apparently failing to follow Transport Department regulations. Despite the department’s instruction to install HSRP on all lanes by April 2019 and the subsequent deadline of February 28, 2023, several vehicles, including the District Collector’s, still lack HSRP.
This disrespect for the law is especially obstructing given the penalties imposed on other vehicle owners for failure to follow it. It is stated that fines ranging from 5,000 to 10,000 rupees have been levied on vehicles without HSRP. Despite this enforcement, there appears to be a lack of action surrounding the District Collector’s vehicle.
The situation raises concerns regarding the regularity and impartiality of HSRP enforcement in Sambalpur District. It remains to be seen whether the Transport Department will address the issue quickly and take proper action against those found to be in violation, regardless of position or status.
