Sambalpur: Maa Samaleshwari’s Light sound show will start again
Sambalpur: The light and sound show of Maa Samaleshwari Temple has been re-displayed after re-editing and minor changes. The show has seemed a bit unfocused in recent episodes, however; District administration officials, media representatives, city intellectuals and some locals were present to watch the show. The show is of 37 minutes. However, video is cut off, it seems to be missing in some places due to the lack of proper graphics. No visuals were found on the temple, especially during the description and song of the Nuankhai relationship. At this time there was a missing of Sambalpuri dances. Similarly, some of the tourist attractions and festivals in western Odisha, including the controversial Mughal and Marhatta parts of the story, are also excluded from the story.
Despite this, the 36-minute light sound show has become unique and fascinating. It covers a wide range of historical topics, from the mention of the Greek philosopher Ptolemy to the arrival of the Chauhan dynasty, the construction of the Samaleswari temple by Balaram Dev and the establishment of the city of Sambalpur, the British Raj, the struggle of Surendra Sai. The worship of Mother Samaleswari, the construction of the Nuakhai, Hirakudar diamonds, the construction of the Hirakud Dam and the cultivation, customs and traditions of the area are also included. The 37-minute show seeks to shape the research data of professors in the Department of History, Sambalpur University. Folk poet Haldhar Nag’s poetry and Pankaj Jal’s music have made it even more interesting. Tickets are priced at Rs 30 for students and senior citizens and Rs 50 for everyone else. Tickets will be available at the temple from 5 p.m. The show will run from 7 to 7:40 p.m. One show can see up to 200 people. The OTDC, which is in charge of its management, said that if there is a high demand, there will be two shows a day in the coming days.
The show will be closed on Monday. No food is allowed in the area. Additional District Magistrate Umakant Raj, Deputy District Magistrate Suryavanshi Peacock Development, former MLA Dr. K.S. Raseshwari Panigrahi, temple trust board president Sanjay Babu, member Prafulla Hota were present and watched the show. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the virtual show on September 11 last year in Nuakhai. But it was also opposed by some controversial scenes. As a result, it was re-edited and multiple scenes were omitted. It was also delayed due to corona.
