Sambalpur: Massive Investment of Thousand Crore for Improvement of Vimsar; Chairman of 5T Makes Historic Visit
350 crore will be spent on renovating the VSS stadium and football stadium, constructing a 700-bed maternity and child hospital
Sambalpur: On the instructions of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, 5T Chairman VK Pandian visited Sambalpur on Sunday and reviewed various improvement projects. On this occasion, he informed that 350 crores will be spent for the improvement of VSS Stadium and the construction of a football stadium in Burla and 1000 crores for the improvement of Vimsar.
After reaching here this morning, Mr. Pandian flagged off the Mahanadi Hap Marathon organized by the district administration near Maa Samlei’s temple at 6 am. On this occasion, he said that the sports culture of Sambalpur is outstanding and the Chief Minister has directed to provide the best facilities for talent development. Recently the Burla Indoor Stadium was inaugurated and the foundation stone of the sports complex of Sambalpur University to be built for Rs 100 crore was laid. Now the Chief Minister has ordered the construction of a new football stadium in Burla and the renovation of the VSS Cricket Stadium into a modern stadium. He said that more than Rs 350 crore will be spent on it, which will play a major role in the development of sports in the district.
On this occasion, Pandian visited the temple of Maa Samaleswari and discussed with the devotees the various facilities available after the Samalei project. After meetings, he reached the VSS Stadium in Sambalpur city and discussed with the players. He also played cricket with the players. Batted and played some impressive shots like cover drives, and pulls. He also shared his experience of studying in a sports hostel with the players. After visiting the VSS Stadium, the 5T chairman visited Burla Vimsar and discussed the improvements with the director, senior doctors, and staff.
In the first phase, it has been decided to build a 700-bed maternity and child hospital with an emphasis on the mother and child department. A sports complex will be built along with the upgradation of the hostel campus. He said that the accommodation of the employees will also be given priority. He said that in the initial phase, an investment of Rs. 1,000 crore will be made for the improvement project in Vimsar. A master plan will be prepared for the complete upgrade. Later, he visited Khinda and directed the officials to review the improvement project of Vir Surendra Sai’s birthplace and speed up the implementation.
