Sambalpur: Medical student victimized by cyber scam; fraudster claimed to have obscene videos and took lakhs of rupees
Sambalpur: A student of Burla Vimsar is a victim of cyber fraud. There are obscene photos, a police complaint has been filed. In this way, lakhs of rupees have been taken from the students. According to the information received, the student received a call from an unknown number around 12:00 on Thursday, who identified himself as Sambalpur Police in-charge Dilip Panigarahi. First asked student’s ID then said you have a case against you, 2 guys gave your obscene photos and videos. A fine of 1 lakh 70 rupees has been imposed. If you pay 1 Lakh 70 thousand rupees, the case will be dismissed. The young lady said that she did not have the money. The person threatened to call her mother and show her the photos and videos.
Then the young woman sent Rs 10,000, then Rs 70,000 and Rs 20,000 via phone pe. The man then asked the student to send the photo on Whatsapp. The student sent a passport photo and then he asked her to send the indecent photo to be scanned, but the student refused.
Then the student did not pick up the man’s phone again. She complained in writing to the Burla police station and the police have registered a case and started investigating the incident. However, there is a demand to catch the fraudsters who blackmail medical students and cheat them.
