Sambalpur: Fine against Traffic Violating Rules applied only to common people, no action is taken against Government Officials vehicle

Sambalpur: The transport department observed a zero-death week from April 1st to 7th. During these 7 days, strict checks were carried out and fines of lakhs of rupees were imposed by the transport department, traffic and police jointly from the people of Sambalpur district. A challan of 55 lakh 22 thousand 65 rupees was levied against 1289 people who violated the Motor Vehicle Act this week.

During these 7 days, 9 lanes were seized. 4 minors were arrested. A maximum of 841 people were fined in the district for traveling without a helmet, 46 people were fined for traveling without a seat belt, 129 people were fined for speeding and 54 people were fined for using mobile phones. Now there is a question that this rule will be applied only to common people or against government officials. Because many of the vehicles used by government officials and employees do not have high-quality number plates. Not only that, many officers and employees are traveling in four-wheelers without using seat belts. There is no seatbelt system for the users either. The most surprising thing is that the employees of SMC’s promotion team are going to take that vehicle and fine the shopkeepers. The vehicle of the 3rd section is seen walking around the city to warn people during the curfew. Many of these vehicles are used by government workers, but no action is taken against them. Sambalpur RTO Ramdas Tudu said that action will be taken if it comes to notice. He said that letters will be sent to all departments.
