Sambalpur: Nandighosh’s Inspiring Journey; Completes 20,000 Km Across 28 States for a Cause

Sambalpur: Nandighosh Khamari, a 26-year-old cyclist from Bargarh Nuagadh, accomplished an incredible achievement by cycling 20,000 kilometers across 28 states in just two and a half years. His objective is to increase environmental awareness and promote the benefits of cycling.

On Monday, he was honored at the Rameshwar Ramchandi temple in Sambalpur. The occasion, presided over by Kulta Samaj Sambalpur President Jashobanti Naik, witnessed the presence of esteemed guests including General Editor Debattam Padhan, Haradhan Pradhan, Abhiram Khamari, Samaru Barik, Khirod Padhan, Nirmala Padhan, Chudamani Barik, Bibeka Bhoi, Alok Sahu, Debadatta Sahu, Akhyaya Padhan, Haradhan Bhoi, Prabin Barik, and Madhusudan Bhoi warmly welcomed Nandighosh.

Nandighosh’s journey began on September 5, 2022, when he set off from Nuagadh village with the goal of riding his bicycle across the entire country. Despite leaving behind his family, which included his father Tapodhan Khamari, a small farmer, and his mother Draupadi Khamari, Nandighosh’s determination sent him on a journey that surpassed geographical boundaries.

Throughout his riding journey, Nandighosh promoted the message that increasing bicycle usage benefits not just the environment but also healthy humans. He shared his experiences, revealing that he had spent nights at a variety of sites, including police stations, schools, temples, mosques, and churches.

Reflecting on his travels, Nandighosh expressed that people throughout India, particularly in Maharashtra, showed a strong interest in bicycles. He highlighted the unique appeal of Sambalpuri songs and dances, which drew audiences across the country, even if they didn’t understand the Sambalpuri language.

Undeterred by the weather, Nandighosh cycled through all four seasons, immersing himself in the cultures of the states he visited. Despite being separated from his family for nearly two years and a half, his determination never changed making him a source of inspiration for many young people.

During his speech, Nandighosh emphasized that he was able to better enjoy and comprehend the variety of foods, languages, and cultures found throughout the nation by spending roughly fifteen days in each state. His journey is a representation of how one person’s dedication can benefit society as a whole. Nandighosh’s cycling expedition is an inspiring example of how a single dream can turn into a journey that leaves a long-lasting impact on individuals and communities.
