Sambalpur: Police Cabins on Flyovers, Inviting Accidents!
Sambalpur: The Sambalpur police have implemented a strategy to curb criminal activity by building cabins in strategic spots. These iron booths, located at the main entry and departure points in Sambalpur, are manned by police officers around the clock. The effort, which began last August with two cabins at Chaurpur Bridge and Lakshmidunguri, has now expanded to encompass sensitive sites.
The recent placement of a cabin near Bhubaneswari Temple on the Duchurapada-Kacheri road bridge aims to improve security and respond quickly to criminal situations. However, there have been issues made about the size of these cabins, which block more than half of the road.
Previously, the bridge had witnessed tragic accidents caused by overspeeding, resulting in the loss of life. However, with the cabins consuming significant road space, the number of road accidents has increased. Furthermore, the safety of the police officers manning these cabins is being scrutinized.
While the police assert that the cabins are vital for preventing accidents and curbing criminal activities, public opinion stresses the importance of considering various aspects, including safety concerns, during their installation.
The community requests a comprehensive evaluation to ensure that the initiative serves its intended purpose without compromising public safety or risking the lives of law enforcement officers.
