Sambalpur: Sambalpur Assembly Seat; Clash Between Two Titans
Sambalpur: There will be an intense battle between two prominent leaders in the Sambalpur Assembly constituency, just like the Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat. The BJP has once again put its faith in the Leader of the Opposition and current MLA Jayanarayan Mishra, while the BJD has fielded Prasanna Acharya, who is known as the mastermind of Western Odisha politics. By nominating a heavyweight leader like Prasanna, the BJD has tried to avoid internal factionalism in Sambalpur.
In the Rengali Assembly seat, the BJD has again trusted the incumbent MLA Rohit Pujari. However, since both Pranab Prakash Das and Prasanna Acharya are from the Sambalpur district, there is a buzz that the BJD is fielding an ‘outsider’ candidate. On the other hand, Rohit Pujari has started preparing to contest from the Sambalpur seat this time.
Meanwhile, a group led by Raseswari Panigrahi and BJD state general secretary Siddharth Das has made it clear to the party leadership that they will not accept Rohit under any circumstances. Facing fierce opposition, Rohit is once again facing a challenge. Former minister Prasanna Acharya was the main contender for the BJD ticket from the Rengali seat, which is a BJD stronghold. He expressed his unwillingness to leave Rengali. It is said that the party has fielded Prasanna in Sambalpur, fearing an expensive campaign for the BJD in Rengali.
