Sambalpur: Sambalpur Team’s Success in National Power Lifting

Sambalpur: The National Power Lifting Competition was organized in Tatanagar of Jharkhand state from 9th Sept to 12th Sept. This time the Odisha Team was involved. In the Odisha team, 3 women contestants Banani Biswas (57 kg), Gemini Bagh (63 kg), and Dolly Pujari (84 kg) were included in the women’s category.

In the men’s category, Roshan Sahu (59 kg), Rakesh Bagh (66 kg), Raj Krishna Bhoi (74 kg), Naveen Bagh (83 kg), Jayant Chand (93 kg), Dibya Kumar Beriha (120 kg) and Somnath Patnaik (up from 120 kg) were involved.

The Odisha team won 2 silver and 2 bronze medals in the competition. In the women’s category, Dolly Pujari won silver and Gemini Bagh won bronze. Similarly, in the men’s category, Somnath Patnaik won silver and Rajesh Bagh won bronze.

After winning medals, all the players joined the Odisha team from Sambalpur and represented the state. While Gautam Azad and Sudhir Patnaik took the responsibility of manager of the Odisha team, Somnath Patnaik and Tarandeep Singh took over the role of coach.
