Even after the vacation of Chancellor Prof. Sanjiv Mittal, he did not attend, while the tenure of In-charge Chancellor Prof. Sanjukta Das also ended yesterday. In such a situation, Sambalpur University was running today without a chancellor.
Ever since he joined Sambalpur University as the Chancellor, Professor Sanjiv Mittal has been in the midst of controversy. However, after Prof. Mittal was accused of direct involvement in financial irregularities in the Swachh School Campaign, he went on leave, days after returning Rs 29 lakh to the university fund. Professor Mittal took leave for 5 days in the first term and 22 days in the second term. His term leave ended yesterday. Meanwhile, PG Council Chairperson Prof. Sanjukta Das was given the charge of Acting Chancellor till 22nd August. Even after the end of the leave, no information has come to the university regarding Professor Mittal’s return or extension of the leave.
Meanwhile, the term of PG Council Chairperson Prof. Sanjukta Das as Acting Chancellor also ended yesterday. In such a situation, there was no chancellor in Sambalpur University. The university was expected to receive some information yesterday. However, there was a lot of discussion among the teachers and staff of the university as there was no information. On the contrary, no one is ready to open their mouths in this matter. Even the people close to the chancellor are not saying anything. Even the chancellor cannot be contacted. On the contrary, an unconfirmed source said that the chancellor has sent a request to the vice-chancellor’s office to extend the leave for a week.
However, the situation is expected to be clarified tomorrow. It is worth noting that an attempt was made to beat the chancellor’s car with egg while he was on leave. On the other hand, a few days after he went on leave, posters were put up demanding the arrest of the chancellor in Sambalpur district office, Kacheri area, Burla city and other places in the metropolitan area.
